Fuel scarcity is back again – and worried Nigerians are asking: WHEN WILL FUEL SCARCITY END? And WILL FUEL SHORTAGE EVER CEASE IN NIGERIA?
From Lagos to Ogun, Ondo to Edo, Delta to Anambra, nearly all the states are facing the same fuel challenge.
In Lagos for instance, very few stations are selling. And besides the long queues noticeable at most stations, some are even selling above the approved N86.50 price or insisting on tips before dispensing the product to motorists and those with jerry cans.
No reason was given by any of the fuel attendants or their managers for this. Although some customers were seen cursing the station owners and their fuel attendants: ‘Na God go punish all of una for dis…Na dem (marketers) dey behind dis…Not Buhari, not the government and not APC…This na just exploitation and man’s wickedness against his fellow man’, one of them told YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine.
And just about a stone throw from there, some commuter bus drivers could be heard shouting and warning that if the scarcity persists, ‘Transport fares might go up from tomorrow…Because we can’t buy at more than N86.50 and continue to charge our old fares…our fares must also increase…’
Interestingly, the MD of Pipeline and Products Marketing Company, PPMC, Mrs. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, seems confused about the action of the fuel marketers as well. Speaking on the resurrection of fuel scarcity tonight, she urged Nigerians to be calm and shun panic buying as according to her ‘we have enough’ fuel to go round the country.
