Zeb Ejiro, one of the oldest filmmakers in Nollywood and actress Ann Njemanze are currently at war. Zeb and Ann who are already in court are fighting over the copyright of Domitilla, a hit movie released in 1996 by the former, YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine learnt.
Ann played the lead role of Domitilla in the movie which back then raked in so much money and publicity touring cinema houses.
YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine gathered that the actress who was hitherto married to her colleague, Segun Arinze and with whom she has a daughter named Morenike, is demanding N50 million from Zeb for alleged “Domitilla” registered trademark infringement.
Filmone Entertainment and Film Trybe Media are joined in suit, alongside Zeb’s company, Zeb Ejiro Productions.
Zeb Ejiro Productions had in 2020 announced a partnership with FilmOne Entertainment and Dioni Vision, owned by actress Omoni Oboli. The plan of the trio was to remake Domitilla, just like the owners of other hit movies like Living in Bondage and Nneka The Pretty Serpent, had done years after their release. However, unknown to Zeb, Ann had already trademarked Domitilla, where she played the lead role – and this caught him unawares.
Other than the N50 million, Ann, whose acting trajectory changed after starring in the monstrously popular movie, is equally asking for N5m for the cost of litigation and legal fees.
